The Warehouse Cooling Hire Challenge
The Jersey Royal Company needed our help to keep their seed potatoes dormant while in storage. Early sprouting leads to damage during mechanical planting that sets crop growing cycles back and ultimately affects the yield. Preventing sprouting by keeping stock cold literally makes the difference between profit and loss.
The Temporary Chilled Storage Solution
We were tasked with supplying four systems to keep three storage areas at the customer’s specified target temperature of 2 degrees. The systems included LT50 low-temperature Air Handling Hire Units (AHUs) with full defrost controls and industrial chiller hire units running a Glycol mixed water solution. The AHUs were mounted at a high level to give good coverage to the client’s densely packed potato boxes.
The system was installed for a total of six months achieving the customer’s target temperatures throughout. Sprouting was delayed which prevented damage during planting, protected yields and supported company profitability.
The client commented…
“Jersey Royal Company’s water chilling system met the specific requirements at our packing facility. Superb knowledge and service provided a solution to meet our needs without a major capital investment. I would not hesitate to recommend FCS to anyone requiring a rental solution for specialist AC or chiller equipment.”
